about dead satellite media
The name 'Dead Satellite Media' has been a ghost in my mind since I was 10 years old (2000). Back then, my childhood best friend and I were convinced we were radio stars. We'd record 'fake' shows on cassette tapes, complete with jingles and outrageous claims, and somehow, these tapes mysteriously reached a middle school in the next county! This led to unexpected surge of demand, a pre-internet viral sensation, and it completely baffled my 10-year-old self.
Did I embrace this newfound fame? Sort of. For a fleeting summer, I fueled this demand, driven by a child's naive ambition. But then, I abruptly halted it, declaring the tapes 'for friends only.'
A fatal self-inflicted wound via the most ten year old shit ever.
Fifteen years later, while co-hosting my first podcast with that same childhood friend, the irony hit me: I'd been a podcaster and producer all along. What if I'd embraced that early success? Would I be a media mogul who asks every guest if they’ve ever tried DMT? An avid bowhunter that can deepthroat a whole slab of elk meat? Or worse, a political puppet with a thumb on the scale in favor of oligarchy?
Thankfully, I dodged those bullets. But the seed of creativity planted in that childhood bedroom continues to bloom. Dead Satellite Media is the culmination of that lifelong passion, a commitment to creating meaningful content and sharing it with the world.
Step into the world of Dead Satellite Media.
“For friends only.”
